The aim of this study is to evaluate the traffic forecasts and the economic benefits of the Eastern Ring Road.

The main target will therefore be limited to update and recalibrating the traffic model for Tripoli to complete an effective transportation analysis and economic evaluation. Once a reliable model reflecting the existing traffic patterns is reached, it will be tested to evaluate the Eastern Ring Road’s economic feasibility.

• Field surveys and data collection.
• Road network modeling describing the simulation various considerations and the zoning structure.
• Model Calibration: explains the process of calibration for the model reliably replicate the existing traffic pattern and is consequently used to study the forecasted scenarios.
• Traffic Forecast: to point out the tactic and assumptions used to generate alternative scenarios and future traffic volumes.
• Scenarios Simulation: presenting different growth scenarios used in the model to analyze the proposed Ring Road (congested sections, overcapacity, interchanges…).
• Economic Feasibility Analysis: to evaluate the benefits in terms of reduction in Vehicle Operating Costs and Value of Travel Time with and without the project, and present economic indicators as well as sensitivity analysis for the proposed investments.
