TRAFFIC IMPACT STUDY FOR KAFD-X AREA
Detailed project description
Located northeast of the interchange between King Fahd Road and the Northern Ring Road, the proposed new development (KAFD-X) may significantly impact the surrounding road network. A traffic impact study is therefore recommended before implementing the development to mitigate its effects on the surrounding area.
The main objectives of the project are to:
- Determine the optimal and maximum trip generation and attraction capacity for the KAFD-X development.
- Identify the most suitable type and scale of development to be planned.
- Update the traffic model and evaluate proposed mitigation measures and solutions to enhance access to and from the KAFD project.
- Assess the monorail within the KAFD site.
Services provided
- Analysis of the current situation and elaboration of a transport model for the internal and external zones using EMME tools.
- Calibration of the traffic model to reflect the current situation and traffic impact assessment of the future development.
- Traffic forecasts (of various transport modes including monorail) related to population and economic activities.
- Analysis of simulation results for future base case scenarios and sensitivity tests using the adjusted traffic model.
- Recommendation of various mitigation measures to improve traffic circulation conditions on the network and some critical intersections and interchanges.
