The project involved analyzing the transportation sector to provide an integrated assessment of traffic conditions in the central area, aiding urban planners in evaluating the impact of proposed projects and ensuring the effective functioning of transportation networks and facilities.
The primary objective of the transportation study was to assess traffic and accessibility conditions in Damascus and its surrounding areas. This assessment aimed to propose an improvement strategy, considering the influence of neighboring sectors within the city. The study also recommended options for the Master Plan for both medium and long-term development.
Additionally, a short-term action plan was developed to propose optimized solutions for congestion and bottlenecks in order to enhance the overall performance of the transport system.
