Detailed description of project

The aim of this study is to evaluate Road Safety measures in the areas under construction of the Basra-Nasiriyah expressway rehabilitation project, following traffic crashes that led to the death of employees from companies engaged in executing and monitoring the project’s works and inspection.

The main objective is therefore to provide a technical analysis for a Road Safety Audit in the Iraq Transport Corridors Project (TCP – Expressway No. 1 Segment R7 and R8), through a review of the traffic management manual (TMPs) and plans prepared at the onset of the project for working areas and their surroundings during the construction phase.

• Analysis of data collection consisting of the traf- fic crashes.
• Assessing the effectiveness of the (TMP) Traffic Management Plans prepared by the contractor and consultants.
• Evaluating road safety along the related road.
• Proposing actions and measures to improve road safety in construction areas.
• Formulation of Road Safety Master Plan guidelines.
