Detailed project description

The aim of this study is to evaluate road safety measures in the construction areas of the Basra-Nasiriyah expressway rehabilitation project, in response to traffic accidents that resulted in fatalities among employees from companies involved in executing, monitoring, and inspecting the project›s works.

The primary objective is to provide a technical analysis through a Road Safety Audit for the Iraq Transport Corridors Project (TCP – Expressway No. 1 Segments R7 and R8). This involves reviewing the traffic management plans (TMPs) and other relevant plans prepared at the project›s inception for the construction zones and their surrounding areas.

Services provided

• Analysis of data collection consisting of the traf- fic crashes.

• Assessing the effectiveness of the (TMP) Traffic Management Plans prepared by the contractor and consultants.

• Evaluating road safety along the related road.

• Proposing actions and measures to improve road safety in construction areas.

• Formulation of Road Safety Master Plan guidelines.
