Detailed description of project
The Traffic Impact Study was developed in accordance with the detailed land use proposed for the North Gate Project. A major objective was to assess trip generation to / from the project, and the capacity of the surrounding road network. The Study determined optimum solutions and measures of effectiveness for roadway transportation in the area, and highlighted constraints.
The Study provided assessment of roadway capacity to accommodate expected traffic volumes. Traffic flows based on the North Gate’s current development pattern, the related trip distribution, and existing site conditions were assessed to evaluate the road network’s level of service. It was in line with the latest version of the “Guidelines, Procedures and Methodology for Review and Approval of Traffic Impact Studies”, February 2009.
Detailed description of project
Analysis of the existing traffic flows, and assessment of the current conditions.
Calibration of the existing traffic model of the sub-area for year 2009.
Assessment of the forecasted traffic conditions for years 2016 and 2026 (with and without the North-Gate project).
Analysis of the project’s impact (based on two scenarios, with and without the North Gate Project).
Analysis of the macro-modelling assessments results.
Analysis of micro-modelling results for the studied area, considering the forecasted traffic volumes.
Proposition of certain mitigation measures for the study area to improve the functioning.
