Detailed project description

The study examined the network functioning of a new development in the Entertainment City of Lusail (1,000,000 sqm), including the street network capacity, the circulation plan, and the area’s main accessibility points. It also provided the conceptual design for transport facilities, analyzed the project’s connectivity to the existing road network, and developed a conceptual plan for an attractive public transport system connecting the project to the city.

Services provided

• Assessment of strategic options for urban transport

• Recommendations for action plans and a framework for urban traffic management, in order to develop an efficient, environmentally friendly, and sustainable urban transport system. Within this system, key measures and benforcement are proposed to secure the implementation of a comprehensive urban traffic management system (primarily: on-street parking regulation and car parking facilities, area traffic control, and mass transit supply)

• Development of an outline of urban transport strategy for the case of Damascus

• Proposal of procedures to integrate transport planning into land use master plans.

• Review of legislative and regulatory provisions of the urban transport sector in accordance with the proposed strategy

• Identification of opportunities for a PPP scheme (Public Private Partnership)

• Review of references on relevant urban transport strategies in countries undergoing transition in order to benefit from similar cases.
