Detailed project description
The study aims to analyze tasks related to Traffic and economic assessment within the General Feasibility Study for the approximately 80-kilometer Tripoli–Beirut Railway.
Based on the most recent data, the supply and demand for transport were refined with detailed information about the corridor’s surroundings. A base case for the year 2015 was established and calibrated for two peak periods (AM and PM) using current traffic counts. Growth rates were projected, and traffic forecasts, along with sensitivity tests, were conducted for several scenarios.

- Conducting a site investigation and Traffic Surveys (OD, ATC, MTC, and SP).
- Calibration of the current base case, demand/supply adequacy.
- Elaboration of growth rates based on demographic, social, and economic analyses.
- Analysis and comparison of institutional scenarios for implementation and operation.
- Traffic and revenue appraisal of selected options.
- Integration of the new facilities within the proposed future bus network system.
