Detailed project description 

The main objective of this study is to analyze and assess the current and future conditions of the road network in Beirut, specifically in the Medawar, Achrafieh, Rmeil, and Saifi areas. The goal is to propose a comprehensive traffic plan, reorganize the road network, and implement public transport solutions within these areas.

This study aims to recommend modifications to the network’s organization and services to:

  • Improve traffic flow and accessibility within the study area
  • Preserve the quality of the urban environment
  • Enhance urban mobility
  • Strengthen social cohesion

Services provided

  • Preparation and completion of field surveys, including automatic and manual traffic counts.
  • Analysis of the current situation and elaboration of a transport model for the study area using the EMME software.
  • Calibration of the traffic model to reproduce the current situation characteristics.
  • Assessment of traffic forecasts about population and growth activities.
  • Simulation analyses and sensitivity tests using the updated traffic model.
  • Propositions of different mitigation measures to improve traffic circulation and some critical intersections.
  • Preparation of the tender dossier (including BOQ, specifications, technical requirements, and implementation plan) for the execution of the proposed projects, and cost estimates.
